Uganda Gorilla Tracking Permits Price Increase
15 August 2019
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) announced this week that there would be an increase on the price of gorilla tracking permits in the country.
Prices are set to increase by US$100 – from $600 to $700 and the increase will come into effect as of 1 July 2020.
The need for a price increase is due to a growing demand for gorilla tracking permits over the past two years. More and more visitors are travelling to this unique African destination every year with the government noting record highs in the first half of 2019.
Owing to the high demand, and following successful habituation of two gorilla groups in Buhoma and Nkuringo, the UWA has increased the number of gorilla families for tracking from 15 to 17.
